Brookweald won the toss and elected to bat. R Harvey batted excellently before being bowled for 94, ably supported by skipper G Wolfe (37) and J Biggs (81). The pick of the bowlers was E Baxter (9-3-35-2). Special mention to 14-year-old A Sreejith (5-0-45-2) playing in his first ever senior game and picking up a couple of wickets for himself. Brookweald finished on 309-7.
In reply, Great Baddow fell 84 runs shorts finishing on 225-5. R Joyce (6-0-29-2) bowled well to dismiss the Baddow openers. Another 14-year-old P Agrawal (52) batted very nicely to reach his first league half century, whilst captain M Austin (99) was stumped the very last ball of the game falling 1 short of a century!
Great Baddow sported an extremely youthful side with 7 under 14s in their squad, and despite plenty of dropped catches and a few misfields, this did not dampen the team's spirits. Brookweald played well and were a very friendly bunch which made for a good game despite the obvious experience gap between the sides.
