Pre-Season Working Party

A big thank you to everyone who came down yesterday to help get things ready for the new season. Your efforts are truly appreciated. A special shout-out to Woody, who has already put in countless hours making the ground look fantastic. Members like Woody are the backbone of the club - thank you for everything, Woody! 

Annual Memberships

This is a second reminder that annual subscriptions are now due. Please note that only members who have paid in full will be considered for team selection. Additionally, you will not be covered by the club's personal injury insurance unless your membership is fully paid.

The club has made significant purchases recently, including a new roller and net facility, so prompt payment of subscriptions is very much appreciated.

You should have received a notification via Teamo with a link to pay by card or direct debit. If you prefer to pay by cash or bank transfer, that's absolutely fine - just drop me a note to confirm.

Club investments

Yesterday we took delivery of a new Roller that has replaced our aging and light roller. We have quite rightly gained a reputation with our excellent pitches investing in a heavier and newer roller can only heighten this well earned reputation. 

New Practice Pitch

The long awaited installation of a practice strip will be completed before the end of this month. Thanks goes out to Chappers who has been organising contractors to come and quote for work and will be managing the works.

These kinds of investments are only possible through effective fundraising and sound financial management. Bar income plays a vital role in supporting the club throughout the season, so we encourage all members to attend events and socials - your support directly contributes to future improvements.

Sponsors

We're also actively seeking new sponsors. If you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring the club, please get in touch. We offer a range of sponsorship packages to suit all budgets. With a strong social media presence, there’s great value in partnering with us. 

Outdoor Practice

Outdoor practice is set to begin this Thursday, weather permitting. Let’s get as many of us down to The Weald as possible to shake off those winter cobwebs and get back into the swing of things. We've even ordered a few cans of WD-40 for those who need to loosen up those rusty joints! For more information, please contact our 1st XI skipper, Waz.

First Friendly and Availabilities

Our first match of the season is this Saturday, as we welcome Chelmsford Superkings to The Weald. Please confirm your availability using the actual fixture in Teamo - it's as easy as pressing a button: green if you're available, red if you're not.

We'll be using the same system as in previous seasons for league matches, there is a Saturday Availability fixture for each weekend in Teamo Please use this, if you already know your weekend availability for the next few weeks, please update it in advance. This helps us stay organised and make team selection smoother for everyone.

Captains and Vice Captains have kindly taken on the task of arranging and selecting teams for our matches - no easy feat! Please, please, please make every effort to update your availability in Teamo. We all have busy lives, and coordinating two full teams each week takes a lot of time and effort. By simply keeping your status up to date, you’re helping make the process smoother for everyone involved. Let’s all do our bit to make team selection more efficient this season.

Guinness evening 

Del is planning a relaxed evening at the club to give our new Guinness pump a proper test run. Naturally, it wouldn’t be right to head into the season without making sure it pours perfectly! Expect reduced price pints on the night, giving the bar staff a chance to master the iconic Guinness pour. Keep an eye on the WhatsApp channels for final details and timing. 

And finally....

I'm genuinely excited for the upcoming season. With a bit more consistency and focus, there's every chance we'll be more competitive on the field - and let’s be honest, winning games feels a whole lot better than losing them. Here's to plenty of Brookweald victories and some memorable celebrations back at the club!
