With fair weather and a Green track all was set for a highly entertaining game at South Loughton. The pitch appeared to offer something to the seamer’s and like wise to the spinners. The Brookweald openers quickly showed the pitch was nothing to worry about with Shaikh making a commendable 67 and then followed with diligent batting from both Naaqvi and Finch. However every time Brookweald threatened to take the game away from South Loughton Rehman produced something special to keep them under check. A quiet dazzling bowling display from the young leggy kept Brookweald to a still very impressive 247.
This appeared a very competitive total and indeed with 20 overs gone in South Loughton innings the game was finely balanced. Young Rehman showed his talent with the bat and kept with the required rate. Once the baton was passed to Zahid the game took a decisive turn. With a combination of aggressive power hitting and intelligent batting south Loughton never looked in trouble. Denyer did his best to keep Brookweald in the game with wily subtle bowling. However with the Brookweald captain being hampered by injuries to bowlers during the game and at times abject fielding Brookweald succumbed meekly. A well deserved win for South Loughton.
