Brookweald won the toss and elected to bat on a hot afternoon in Woodham Mortimer. Brookweald’s opening pair of Verna and Denyer got off to a fast start posting a 50 partnership in only the 5th over of the day. However, Brookweald’s hope of setting a big total on what is a fast scoring ground and a true batting wicket was short-lived. Woodham Mortimer's attack soon gained control. Tight and accurate spells of bowling, particularly from Smith (3/9), Wright (2/31) and Glasson (3/33) effectively won the match by bowling Brookweald out for 139 in only 33 overs.
Hedges and Heppell briefly had Brookweald in the game, with Hedges producing another superb spell of swing bowling that Included the wicket of danger man Dan Smith. However, this was short lived, Mortimer knocked off the required runs in 26 overs. Abeyratna (56) and Shipton (47) seeing Mortimer across the line for a well deserved win.
